Innovative approaches in the work of modern companies

In this article, we want to talk about the most important innovative concepts and theories that companies should know about and be sure to use if they are striving for success.

So, many entrepreneurs say that innovation is important, and that they value the ideas of their employees. And in fact, creativity is becoming a key skill that many believe they will need in the future. However, the problem lies in the fact that very few well-known companies really know how to capitalize on their innovative ambitions.

It is important to note here, despite the fact that perhaps some of them will not bring profit, together they reduce the risk of failure, increase the likelihood of success of new ideas and can help build an organization that is more resistant to change and is able to grow.

Let’s start with a little study of the TRIZ theory (the abbreviation comes from its original Russian name: teoriya resheniya izobretatelskikh zadatch, “theory of inventive problem solving”). It is a tool for problem solving, analysis and forecasting based on the study of invention patterns in the world patent literature. At its core, the structure is a set of strategies and tools for finding original solutions to complex problems.

The first step on the path to innovation is to reformulate the situation in such a way that the wording itself cuts off unpromising and ineffective solutions. After that, you can reformulate the inventive situation into a standard mini-task: “according to the ideal end result, everything should remain as it was, but either the harmful, unnecessary quality should disappear, or a new, useful quality should appear.” The main idea of the mini-task is to avoid significant (and expensive) changes and consider the simplest solutions first.

The formulation of the mini-task contributes to a more accurate description of the task:

  • What parts does the system consist of, how do they interact?
  • Which connections are harmful, interfering, which are neutral, and which are useful?
  • Which parts and connections can be changed and which cannot?
  • Which changes lead to an improvement in the system, and which ones lead to a deterioration?

When it should be used: If your company cannot find any solutions to the problem, it may be worth reading the list of TRIZ principles. It is also useful that every employee of the company who can generate ideas (and this, in my opinion, should be everyone) has a basic understanding of these principles.
